The Platte Canyon Fire Protection District board has postponed a decision on a possible request for a property-tax increase until board members have a clearer picture of the county’s real estate values.

Between lower tax revenue due to declining home values and rising costs for equipment, maintenance, fuel, supplies and personnel, the Bailey-based district anticipates some paid firefighter/paramedics will be furloughed in 2016 if residents don’t approve a tax hike.
