"Troop Support Action Committee (TSAC) today sent off ten boxes of snack and comfort items to two U.S. Marine Corps units in Afghanistan.
These troops are currently involved in operations against Taliban insurgents in the Helmand Valley area in the south of country near the Pakistan border.
They are additionally charged with training local villagers to serve as Local Police Officers to establish area security in their home tribal areas.

These ten boxes weighed a total of just over 148 pounds.
The contents were donated by generous members of our mountain community at TSAC collection events and in the collection boxes located at the doors of King Soopers and Safeway in Aspen Park and Conifer.

Among the most highly appreciated contents of these boxes were "energy bars" and powdered drink flavorings.
These items can be easily carried in uniform pockets to keep soldiers energized while on patrol and to improve the taste of water in canteens.
Other items favored include trail mix, beef jerky, chewing gum, and hard candy.
This shipment included microwave popcorn, ramen soup packets, and hot cocoa mixes for enjoyment in the forward operating bases.
Our contacts in these units agree to receive and distribute these goods to all of their fellow troops.

It is important to thank all of you who contribute to our effort to remind troops that the folks back home really do care for their welfare.
TSAC is simply a conduit to get donated goods to the troops and use donated funds to cover postage costs.

Here is a photo of the boxes ready to go into the Bailey Post Office and get on the way to Afghanistan.

Yours truly, BGR, is proud to be able to facilitate this load on behalf of TSAC members.
I know that this treasure will bring a lot of smiles to brave troops in a dangerous land.
