Well, with a greenhouse we can extend the growing season a little. I found a great way to extend even more

http://www.johnnyseeds.com/p-5455-agrib ... -x-50.aspx

I have been using this very inexpensive fabric all summer to keep the intense heat and sunlight out as well as protecting my plants from the hail. Now I am using it for row covers in the greenhouse, cold frames and even on the open veggie beds. I got the idea from
Eliot Coleman, http://www.amazon.com/Winter-Harvest-Ha ... ot+coleman - great book. He gardens almost year round and he lives in Maine!!!

anyways, thought I'd share, maybe it'll help someone else grow food a little longer or protect our carefully raised plants and be able to harvest.

Love that book by Coleman. I use a solar pool cover on my hoophouse. And they have a lot of winter garden ideas at the website where I got all my tomato seeds. I can't find it right now but will post the link later.

It looks like bubble wrap. For an inground or above ground pool. (The kind you swim in) And because of the extra layer of plastic on the hoophouse, it stays warmer longer on the inside.
