Yeah but the man is smart enough to know how this has taken off and he can create good will and more business. Smart man, whatever his motives.

Spirit airlines did uphold their policies and the public reacted to the CEO's comments; even that bone head recognized he took an unpopular stance. Why a CEO would risk the popularity and reputation of their company over $197.00 seems stupid to me and I find it no surprise that the CEO reversed himself. Even worse, Spirit airlines already leads the way for consumer complaints against an airline.

On the plus side, private companies are free to draft and enforce policies any way they want to; executives that understand the importance of staying in business and positive customer relations are careful about the policies they draft and enforce. I predict Spirit will suffer from a loss of business over this flap, best of luck to the employees in remaining employed. On second thought who would want to work for a company that already has such a bad reputation anyhow? I suppose they can take heart in the fact that there are so many open positions in the aviation industry... Oh wait, I guess the employment market isn't that great after all.

As he said, if you do it for one, then you have to do it for all. No refund means no refund. That's why I never fly discount airlines.

As someone else said, with a $100 carry on bag fee they've got worse problems.
